Anxiety is a common
experience, and there are many different types of it.

Social anxiety is one of the most common types, and it’s characterized by a fear of being criticized or rejected in social situations. The symptoms of social anxiety can vary from person-to-person, but the experience of anxiety is generally daunting and can lead to a full-blown panic attack. For example, daily interactions may cause a person to have difficulty breathing, trembling, a fast heartbeat, and difficulty seeing.

Why engage in expressive writing?

Expressive writing is a form of
writing therapy that has been found to be helpful in reducing negative neural signals and anxiety.

James Pennebaker, an award winning American Social
Psychologist describes in his extensive theory that translating
burdens and upsetting beliefs into language allows the writer
to feel exhilaration. As opposed to being fixated on fears,
individuals are able to prioritize responsibilities at hand.
